As a junior in highschool who has always loved art and excelled in it more than anything else in school I knew I wanted to do this with my life but needed a video like this to give me examples of how to make money as an artist because I think I can speak for most artists with the experience of growing up around the idea that artists are broke

There is a problem (or blessing, depending on where you stand) of scalabilty in most kinds of art. Basically, few super-famous artists make fortune, mostly becasue they're known. At the same time, those who are less know can make zero, and this doesn't mean they're bad.
One way to see it is just as a marketing problem. Just go there and get known. But you know, not everybody will. So there is another strategy – to have a small number of very dedicated fans. IF you say to get them is again hard marketing task – yes and no. You probably have a few already – it's some of your kith and kin. Maybe, they won't pay you – but they can totally speak about what you're doing. And passion is the best marketer.
